Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre
18 September 2014 – opening of the Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre. The theatre doesn’t offer own performances but it is a venue for the guest stagings from around the world. It is also the scene for The Gdansk Shakespeare Festival. The building of the theatre was designed by Italian architect Renato Rizzi. Its unique structure i.a. the sliding roof refers to plays of the English Renaissance theatres which were originally performed in the open air.
The Prince of Wales is the honorary patron of Gdansk theatre.
